Oscar won the toss and put Mudeford into bat on a bouncy artificial wicket and an outfield that can only be described as wild.
Charlotte opened the bowling and took a wicket in her first over and followed up with a maiden in her second. George added fire power and caused havoc with the batting pair taking 3 superb wickets.
Ossian and Jonah came next, working hard on their line and length to keep the pressure on Mudeford. A particularly lively delivery from Ossian lead the batsman to deflect the ball high into the air for him to add a skilful, caught and bowled. Connor showed his experience with both pace and accuracy taking 2 wickets for 5 runs and Bruno contributing with a fine catch behind the stumps.
Sam showed promise against the Mudefords middle pair who clawed their way back into the game with some well-timed shots.
Oscar and Bruno attached the final pair keeping control of the game. Bruno’s bowling has improved during the season with speed and accuracy and he deserved his 2 wickets. Oscar also did well to contribute another wicket.
It is also worth noting how well the team fielded and together with their bowling gave them a modest target of 235 runs to win.
Connor & Charlotte opened the batting and gave a marvellous display of running between the wickets and controlled batting. Both hit the ball well and Charlotte smashed a wonderful straight drive for four.
Next up Oscar and Sam, who batted with power, Oscar hitting a tremendous 6 and Sam rocketing his first two deliveries to the boundary for two consecutive 4. The pair put on 18 runs.
George & Jonah followed and continued the to add to the Lymington tally. Jonah hit a great 4 and picked off singles at every opportunity and it was particularly pleasing that he held his wicket without loss, throughout the spell.
Last up Ossian & Bruno who took control of the game and hammered us home for the win. Ossian started with his usual gusto, sending his first three deliveries flying to the boundary. By way of retaliation a dubious LBW decision tried and failed to deter our progress. Bruno assisted his partner with excellent running between the wickets bring us home with a 40 run victory.
All in all, it was an excellent all round performance and shows the strength and depth of the Lymington squad.
