Lymington I’s lost but only to the Weather as the Heavens Opened

Southern Premier League: Premier Division

Lymington I’s   62-2                                 Havant I’s

Lymington I in their first home game of the season against Havant 1 experienced a very premature end to the fixture no thanks to the rain. Given the efforts of the ground staff and the rain relenting for a while Lymington finally got off to a start at 12.30 one hour behind schedule. However, play was then suspended as the rain returned after only 7.4 overs and although play eventually resumed it was not long before the rain intensified and the game abandoned at 14.00.

Lymington captain, Terry Crabb, lost the toss and the side was inevitably put in to bat on a damp wicket. In the brief play that was possible opener Ben Rogers again impressed with another attacking display in his knock of 42, including 22 runs in boundaries, before he was caught by Freddie Gadd off the bowling of Richard Hindley (1-3).  Fellow opener Terry Crabb (12) played a more patient innings as the two put on 57 runs for the first wicket before Freddie Gadd (1-2) bowled him with his second ball. The rain intervened shortly after and the game only lasted 11 overs.

Next up is the local Big Bash game this coming Saturday with Lymington I’s are away to local rivals and 2019 league champions Bashley (Rydal).
