Hants u17 Kerry Cup T20

Sway/Lymo u17 142-7 beat Ferndown Wayfarers 91 all out by 51 runs

The combined u17 team from Sway CC & Lymington CC began their defence of the Hants county u17 Kerry Cup with a convincing win on Wednesday at Lymington..

On a glorious evening Sway/Lymo won the toss & batted. The opening pair of Josh Royan & Dan Bailey faced an accurate opening spell from Pittaway  & Rossiter but after a watchful start gradually began to dominate the bowling with a fine boundary-strewn opening stand of 77 until Bailey was bowled for 42 off just 25 balls. Royan continued steadily but had lost another 3 batting partners when he was caught on the boundary for 45 with the score at 117-5. Some sensible running & lusty strikes from Freddie Pearson (12) & Ollie Sharp (16) took SwayLymo to 142 for 7 off their 20 overs. Harry Breckon with 4-0-46-3 & skipper Finley King with 3-1-6-1-were the pick of the Ferndown bowlers.

The Ferndown response got off to the worst possible start as both openers were out in the first two overs as Royan (3-0-19-1) & Axel Deem (2-0-5-1) both bowled with pace & accuracy. Kimber (25) began the fightback with Stephenson (15) & was batting well when he suffered a knee injury & had to retire hurt. Sway/Lymo skipper Josh Bailey then put the result beyond doubt with a fine spell of spin bowling (4-1-7-3) & was well-supported by youngsters Conor Treacey (2-0-7-2) & Will Pearson (2-1-1-1) together with a superb direct hit run out by Deem. Ferndown were eventually all out for 91 leaving Sway/Lymo winners by 51 runs.
