Southern Premier/Division 1 West

Lymington I           146

Totton and Eling I 148-5

Lymington had another tough day at Totton and Eling losing by 5 wickets on a lovely sunny afternoon in Totton. Lymington captain Josh Royan won the toss and elected to bat.

Lymington got off to a solid start with Terry Crabb (19) and Ryan Scott (42) put on 42 before Terry was bowled by Tom Cheater (2-14) followed quickly by Gareth Schreuder. Ryan was then joined by Cameron Robertson (36), who again batted aggressively with six fours and one six, as the pair put on 52 for the third wicket in only eight overs. However, when Ryan was out wickets steadily with the last eight falling for only 44 as Lymington finished on 146 in 31.2 overs.  Josh Royan (8) narrowly avoided a hat trick after Jack Owens (2-31) took two wickets in consecutive balls. Tom Sykes (8) hung around for a while but it was the Totton bowlers doing the damage led by Brighton Mugochi (3-23).

Ed Freeman (1-21) took an early wicket when Totton and Eling batted but then Sam Bracey (46) with a patient knock including some reverse sweeps and Owen Morris (25) put on 61 for the second wicket before Owen was out lbw to Dan Bailey (2-38). Brighton Mugachi (17) then attacked the Lymington bowling before Hakim Peruzi (5*) and Tom Cheater (8*) guided Totton home in only 23.1 overs to end a disappointing Lymington performance. Spinners Jude Tollerfield (1-14) and Josh Bailey (1-6) were the other wicket takers.

At least the early finish gave the players a chance to reflect on the league season. Lymington might have finished second to bottom but for such a young side it will stand them in good stead in the coming seasons. Ryan Scott (148 runs at an average of 24.67) top scored in the league followed by Terry Crabb (132) and Cameron Robertson (118). For the bowlers Josh Royan took 10 wickets, at an average of 13.9, followed by Dan Bailey (9) and brother Josh (7). Josh took the most catches with 6 followed by Gareth Schreuder and Ryan Scott (both on 5).
